Birmingham was nicknamed ‘The Magic City’ early in its boom years. The iron industry which once supported the town, and directly led to its growth, boomed so rapidly that it appeared to be magic, and the name stuck! Did you know there used to be a sign proclaiming ‘Magic City’ near the railway station?
These days, Birmingham is The Magic City for different reasons, and one of the primary reasons is the fantastic array of restaurants, bars and shops that make Birmingham one of the most lively and exciting cities in the USA. Then there are the many excellent events that take place during the year, and few are better or more popular than the Magic City Mac ‘N’ Cheese Festival!
Back for its third year by popular demand – the previous two years were very successful indeed – the Magic City Mac ‘N’ Cheese Festival is about food, and more food! What’s more, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than any before, with plenty of parking space so you can drive or take public transport, and it’s going to be an occasion you really can’t miss.
Where and When
October the 6th is the date to remember for the Magic City Mac ‘N’ Cheese Festival, and make a note of where it is to be held. The venue is at 780 Brookwood Village, Birmingham, AL 35209, which is easy to reach from downtown or over the mountain.
What can you expect? The Magic City Mac ‘N’ Cheese Festival is where all the local Birmingham restaurants – plus food trucks and catering companies – get a chance to show their wares with a wide variety of mac ‘n’ cheese dishes, so if that’s your thing you’re in for a real treat.
What’s more, your entry ticket entitles you to a sample from every one of the vendors present, and at $15 for adults – buy your ticket early as it will be $20 at the event – and just $5 for children between 6 and 12 years. It’s a bargain! Children 5 and under get in free too!
Beer and Soft Drinks
One of the great things about Magic City Mac ‘N’ Cheese Festival – which runs from 1pm to 4pm – is that it is designed to be a great family day out. Not only are you encouraged to bring your kids, but pets are welcome, too, so you can take the dog with you!
With your food you can also enjoy a beer, or perhaps a cocktail or two, while the children can enjoy a choice of soda and water while they play in the wonderful open spaces. This is a Birmingham event that will brighten up your day, and also allow you to sample excellent food from a wide variety of vendors.
Make October 6th a date in your calendar and get you and the family – and your dog – down to Brookwood Village for a fun, relaxed and enjoyable afternoon at what promises to be another great community event.
